This June 2020, Invisible Flock (UK) and Quicksand (IN) will relaunch their app, Duet, as a response to the current Covid-19 crisis. With more people at home who are isolated from their friends and family, Duet creates digital artwork, encouraging connection as well as reflection and expression. The app pairs participating individuals and invites them to exchange details of their lives by answering a question a day, building new anonymous space and connections.

Duet seeks to challenge the ways in which we interact online. The app provides a slow, dreamy, experiential space where users are invited to share small glimpses of their life with someone new.

Prompted by Duet, a participant gradually builds a picture of the person they are partnering with and their surroundings through anonymous shared messages, while finding a moment for reflection in their own lives and surroundings.

Duet is a collaboration between Invisible Flock and Quicksand. The two organizations have worked together on artistic projects for the last six years. Invisible Flock is an interactive arts studio based at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park in the UK, and Quicksand is a human-centered design agency headquartered in India. The interaction curated by the app directly reflects the relationship between the two teams who have remotely worked in partnership to develop this innovative digital artwork.

Duet Chapter Two, will run for 100 days, through June, July, August and early September and seeks to provide an intimate and reflective space through which we can all directly respond to this new world we find ourselves in, especially in light of Covid-19.

The Duet app was first presented in 2017. In its first edition, the app was live for 368 days and connected more than 1,200 participants in India and in the UK, generating a 25000+ database of beautiful and eclectic answers. Each daily question was different and participants took part in varying ways, with some connecting with a single partner for the entire year and some dipping in and out of the experience.

Duet Chapter Two will be available worldwide on Android and iOS, as an opportunity to connect with someone new across the globe.
